Madison Nicole May
Madison Nicole May was born in 1994 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She studied Printmaking locally at Kendall College of Art and Design in pursuit of her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree which she obtained in May of 2016. She has completed two internships outside of her academic work at Dinderbeck Studios & Printshop and Avenue for the Arts. Themes in her work include those of domesticity, abuse, neglect, and examining the impacts of those conditions regarding violence against women.
She has participated in a total of 35 different shows, demonstrations and printmaking exchanges. She held the position of President of Collective Pressure, KCAD’s Printmaking Club, during her final year, and maintained a presence on the Presidents list throughout her entire Undergraduate experience. Recently, she was awarded the Studio Excellence Award in Printmaking for Graduating BFA students in 2016. She also received the distinction of a receiving a Jurors Pick for MEGA (Michigan Emerging Graduate Artists) 2016 at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She worked as a Print Shop Technician at KCAD, and a Gallery Assistant in the Fed Galleries during her BFA candidacy. Currently, she is the Printing Assistant at Woosah Outfitters and Printshop in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
